I was reviewing some of my favorite collections for Fall 2011 over the weekend and realized that I have yet to note one of the most obvious trends – The Monster Tee.
Monsters have clearly jumped from our television screen onto our clothing. It is possible that pop culture’s obsession with monsters – Twilight, True Blood, etc. – are to blame for this one. A number of collections including Givenchy and Emanuel Ungaro went full force on this trend. You will find a “werewolf esque” figure emblazoned on many of their Fall pieces. The first and best time I have seen this trend is in the Balmain Collection (Christophe Decarnin Days). I personally own the monster inspired tunic which looks amazingly scary with leather leggings. I am curious to see if this new designer monster will continue to appear on the Runway…
