I arrived back home from Florida this morning only to be greeted by this wet, dreary Chicago weather. I decided that the best thing for me to do is embrace the benefits of these never ending April showers. The glass might as well be half full when we have endured enough rain to fill buckets!

One big plus to this weather is that it provides a longer street life for some of our favorite fashion pieces. I have always been a huge boot girl and will continue to rock my favorites with leggings, skinny jeans and tights right up until the very last rain drop! There is no point in spending money on boots right now- especially when there are more drool worthy sandals out there than Kimora Lee Simmons can fit in her closet!  However, anyone in need of a quick rain boot fix should check out Top Shop’s Doodle Lace Up Wellies for a modest $55.oo. (No Hunter boots please. They are so Mean Girls/Sorority Chick.)

The other fashion piece I feel obligated to call attention to is the outerwear sweater. I adore chunky, cool knits but rarely find the appropriate time to wear them. Most are too thick to fit under winter coats and too heavy to wear in moderate weather. April is usually the best month for this type of sweater.  There is something about wet, dark weather that makes us want to curl up in a blanket. Cozy knits serve the same purpose and look adorable when you are out and about in the city. Chloe, Brunello Cucinelli, Givenchy and Stella are my favorite designers for this knit category. But if you want to keep it real, I suggest heading over to Urban Outfitters or Anthropology.

A WORD OF ADVICE – knits expand like crazy. Fold. Do not hang.
