I’m all about great sundresses that work as cover ups. A cool dress that you can throw over your favorite bathing suit at the beach or pair with a great sandal to wear to a bar or restaurant is key for smart summer dressing.
Here are some of my favorite options this season.
CAMILLA | Hani Heaven Round Neck Kaftan
Camilla is one of my favorite beachwear lines. The Australian designer focuses on beautiful lightweight fabrics in cool bohemian inspired prints. This one is a great summer buy! Perfect as a cover-up and also just a cool dress to lunch in. Love that you can wear it “as is” to provide coverage or tie it into a flirty strapless number to avoid tan lines.
FIGUE | “Melita” Dress
Figue is another fantastic line for dresses that can be worn as a cover up. I love the clean white fabric with just the right amount of color to make it fresh for summer. The self belt option is great for women who like to show off their waistline, but do not be afraid to wear without for a more casual look.
LEMLEM | Mwali Shirt Dress
LemLem is one of the best lines for the summer! Tons of casual, easy pieces in lightweight fabrics. I particularly like this dress. It works over bathing suits or is great to run around town in with your favorite sandals or sneakers.
TANGIERS | Spaghetti Dress
This is a dress you will live in all summer long! The lightweight cotton is breezy and ideal for warm weather while the chambray color is right on trend yet not as heavy as denim. Not to mention, it goes with absolutely everything.
ZIMMERMANN | Jasper Stripe Smock
The neutral striping and playful tassel trim are just right. They can be too much together but Zimmermann got it right with this one. Play around and untie the waist for a different look.
LISA MARIE FERNANDEZ | Mira Midi Dress
This is a great way to embrace the season’s most prominent neckline. The soft pastel pink and white stripe reminds us of our childhood dresses but the off-the-shoulder neckline gives it a more grown up feeling. Wear it over your bathing suit for a post-beach lunch.
BORGO DE NOR | Paloma Maxi Dress
This is a dream dress to take on vacation. Perfect for a trip on the Mediterranean or to the South of France. But don’t rule it out for New York, LA or Miami. Take this dress from day to night – as long as you don’t come in direct contact with sand or water!
